Characteristics and application of wollastonite flame-retardant, thermally stable and heat-resistant materials

Flame retardant, heat stable or heat-resistant materials are products based on the refined processing of natural minerals. Compared with synthetic flame retardant, heat stable or heat-resistant materials, they have comprehensive advantages and characteristics such as green environmental protection, low manufacturing cost, moderate or unique performance. They are new functional materials with good development prospects, broad market application prospects and large market consumption capacity.

At present, the flame-retardant and smoke eliminating mechanism of mineral flame-retardant powder materials with high performance and large amount mainly includes four aspects:

Wollastonite is a white calcium silicate mineral with chain structure, and its theoretical formula is CaSiO3. There are a lot of active groups such as Si-O-Si, Ca-O, Si-O, Si-OH on the surface of crushed wollastonite, which have strong binding ability with organic matrix. Wollastonite is generally used in combination with magnesium flame-retardant minerals or organic flame-retardant materials. The addition of fibrous wollastonite powder to the flame-retardant high impact polystyrene (HIPS) matrix can improve the elongation at break, bending modulus of elasticity, heat resistance and processing performance of the flame-retardant hips materials. Wollastonite is dispersed into the hips matrix with needle like fine strips with a certain length diameter ratio, which changes the glass fiber The role of sexual enhancement. Wollastonite is widely used in PP, EVA, polyamide, polystyrene and other polymer systems. Wollastonite accounts for 10% ~ 15% of the market of mineral filler, especially for the application environment exposed to ultraviolet and water immersion, the filled material can show excellent performance.
